Starting X.com

Elon's company after Zip2 was called X.com. Why? Probably because he didn't have a great name (besides X.com) as he wasn't exactly sure what the company was going to do, with only a vague idea of becoming an "online financial conglomerate" for consumers. He was wired $5M by Mike Moritz of Sequoia, supposedly with no papers signed, just based on this vague notion (shows you how (a) how easy it is to raise VC after a successful exit, and (b) how frothy it was in 1999)
